WASHINGTON –
Amanda Carolan,
Paula Germino-Watnick and
Meaghan Nally added another accolade to their resumes on Monday after the United Soccer Coaches announced its NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-Region selections. Germino-Watnick and Nally both earned First Team Scholar All-South Region honors while Carolan was selected to the second team.
To be named to the Scholar All-Regional Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout her career, start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team.
Paula Germino-Watnick – First Team
- The senior ranked second on the squad with 26 points off of nine goals and eight assists.
- Germino-Watnick holds a 3.82 GPA while studying biology of global health at Georgetown.
- She was named a United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American and earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team.
- Germino-Watnick was also selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-Regional First Team this year and to the All-ECAC Team.
- She was unanimously picked as the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and was a unanimous selection to the league's first team.
- Earlier this season, Germino-Watnick was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch list.
Meaghan Nally – First Team
- Nally led an experienced back line this season that stepped up and allowed just 7.1 shots per game from opponents and shut out 10 teams.
- This is the second year in a row that she was named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Regional First Team.
- The marketing major currently holds a 3.68 GPA.
- Nally was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region First Team for the second-straight year.
- She was selected as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row and earned a spot on the conference's first team as well.
- The senior joined Germino-Watnick on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List earlier this year.
- The defender was named to the Senior CLASS Award Second Team and to the All-ECAC Team.
Amanda Carolan – Second Team
- The graduate student led the Blue & Gray this season with 29 points from a team-high 11 goals and seven assists.
- She holds a 3.62 GPA and is seeking her masters in applied intelligence in the Georgetown School of Continuing Studies.
- Carolan was a unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection and was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
- She was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region First Team earlier this season and to the All-ECAC Team.
The Blue & Gray finished the 2019 season 13-5-3 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the eighth-straight year. They reached the BIG EAST Championship game for the fourth year in a row.
