WASHINGTON – Four members of the Georgetown University track & field team were in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Friday as they competed in the JDL Fast Track Invitational. The Hoyas raced in the men's distance medley relay (DMR) and recorded a fourth-place finish in a time of 9:36.938.
All-American
Joe White (Clifton, N.J. / DePaul Catholic) ran the first stint of the DMR on the 1,200-meter leg and posted a time of 2:56.257.
Lawrence Leake (Huntington, N.Y. / Huntington) ran the 400-meter leg, recording a time of 48.102.
Ruach Padhal (London, Ontario / John Paul II Catholic) had the best performance for Georgetown as he was able to tally the fastest 800-meter time of the day finishing in 1:49.392. All-American
Nick Wareham (Woodbury, Minn. / Woodbury) anchored the relay for the Hoyas in the 1,600-meter leg and came across the line in a time of 4:03.188, solidifying fourth place overall.
"The men did a fantastic job of executing on each of the four legs putting us in a great position going into the next few weeks of competition," Director of Track & Field
Julie Culley said. "We are currently sitting in fifth in the NCAA rankings and historically that should be enough to get us to Birmingham in March."
The Blue & Gray will return to the track next weekend, as the squad will travel to Geneva, Ohio for the BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships. The action is set to begin on Friday, Feb. 22.
