Kyle Ruedisili (Jupiter, Fla. / The Benjamin School / Washington and Lee University) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts in Georgetown's five games last week. Ruedisili batted .462 (6 for 13) and recorded a .611 on-base percentage and a .846 slugging percentage. He had two hits, including a double, two runs scored and an RBI in a 14-5 win over Coppin State on Wednesday, while also stealing a base. In the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against Princeton, Ruedisili went 3 for 4 with another double, two runs scored and two stolen bases. He homered in Sunday's win over Princeton, putting the Hoys on the board with a solo shot in the third inning.
The Hoyas went 3-2 in their first five home games last week, defeating Coppin State before splitting a four-game series with Princeton. In Sunday's series finale, GU used an eight-run seventh inning, propelled by five RBIs from
Ryan P. Davis (Oak Hill, Va. / Oakton), to defeat Princeton 10-6. Davis led the offense with three hits, including his first home run of the season, and five RBIs while also scoring two runs.
Ryan Weisenberg (Parkland, Fla. / San Ramon Valley [Calif.]) finished with three hits while
Ryan M. Davis (Danville, Calif. / San Ramon Valley) and
Yareb Martinez (Aldie, Va. / John Champe) had two knocks apiece. Ruedisili homered, was on base three times and scored two runs.
For the season,
Eddie McCabe (Norwalk, Conn. / Conn.) leads the Hoyas with a .370 (27 for 73) batting average and 15 RBIs.
Michael Willis (Baltimore, Md. / Gilman) is batting .367 (18 for 49) with a home run and 13 RBIs.
Ryan M. Davis is hitting .321 (26 for 81) with two home runs, three triples and a team-high eight doubles. Ruedisili leads GU in several categories including home runs (4), runs scored (21) and stolen bases (6) while ranking second in doubles (7) and RBIs (14). As a team, the Hoyas are batting .293, which leads the BIG EAST, while the pitching staff owns a 5.66 ERA.
George Mason enters Tuesday's contest with a 9-8 overall record, but dropped two out of three last weekend against Monmouth. The Patriots are led by Logan Driscoll, who has a team-high .323 (21 for 65) batting average, four home runs, 15 runs scored and six stolen bases. Cam Reckling is batting .305 (18 for 59), while Greg Popatak II has a team-leading 13 RBIs. George Mason is batting .233 as a team, while the pitching staff has a 4.98 ERA.
After Tuesday's matchup, the Hoyas will return to Shirley Povich Field for a three-game series next weekend against Hartford. Friday's series opener is set for 3 p.m., while Saturday's game will start at 2 p.m. and Sunday's contest will begin at 1 p.m.
