WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team carded a 318 on Tuesday to jump a spot and finish 14th at the Briar's Creek Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston, in John's Island, South Carolina. The Hoyas turned in a three-round score of 59-over par 923 at the par-72, 6,101-yard The Golf Club at Briar's Creek.
Georgetown shot a team score of 306 in Monday's first round, before bouncing back to break 300 on the next 18 holes with a 299. The Hoyas sat in 15th place after 36 holes on Monday.
Michigan State won the tournament with a 8-under par 856. Indiana (E, 864), Campbell (+9, 873), College of Charleston (+13, 877) and Old Dominion (+13, 877) rounded out the top five.
Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla. / St. Andrew's) was GU's top finisher, carding a 12-over par 228 to tie for 57th. She turned in a 74 in Monday's first round and climbed seven spots on Tuesday with a 76.
Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J. / Kent Place) tied for 67th with a 16-over par 232. She recorded a 74 during the second round on Monday, sandwiched between a pair of 79 scores.
Pendleton Bogache (Myrtle Beach, S.C. / Episcopal [Va.]) was one stroke behind her in 70th at 17-over par 233.
Baili Park (Germantown, Tenn. / Houston High School) tied for 74th at 18-over par 234, while
Ashley Fitzgibbons (Sammamish, Wash. / Eastlake Senior) finished with a 29-over par 245.
Georgetown will next play at the Bryan National Collegiate, March 29-31 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
