WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University softball team will visit District neighbor George Mason on Wednesday afternoon for a nonconference midweek matchup. The Blue & Gray (11-31, 4-9 BIG EAST) fell last week in all three games during a BIG EAST series against Villanova. Four Hoyas tallied team highs of three hits, including junior
Noelle Holiday (Bear, Del. / Red Lion Christian Academy), who led the squad with a home run and three RBIs, and sophomore
Macy Cartwright (Naples, Fla. / Naples) who was 3 for 3 in stolen bases and scored a pair of runs.
For the season, Holiday leads the Hoyas batting .347 with team highs of nine doubles, eight homers, 32 RBIs and a .673 slugging percentage. Sophomore
Savannah Jones (San Rafael, Calif. / Terra Linda) ranks second with a .310 batting average, 36 hits, eight doubles, three triples, a home run and 13 RBIs. Freshman
Mae Forshey (Phoenix, Ariz. / Arcadia) has a team-best 38 hits, as well as eight doubles, a home run and 21 RBIs on the year
The Patriots are 19-23 on the season and 7-10 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. They are coming off of a 2-1 series win against La Salle last weekend. George Mason recorded a pair of shutouts against the Explorers, including a late game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh in a 1-0 victory. Adrian Erickson carries the team batting .290 to go along with 36 hits, 10 doubles, a triple and five homers, as well as 23 RBIs and a .508 slugging percentage. In the circle, Bekah Ansbro registers a 2.37 earned run average and has recorded 93 strikeouts in 100.1 innings pitched.
The Blue & Gray is 7-9 in the all-time series against the Patriots. Last year, Georgetown fell 4-3 in extra innings at George Mason.
Following Wednesday's game, the Hoyas will remain on the road and travel to Seton Hall in South Orange, New Jersey for their final BIG EAST road series this season. GU will play three games against the Pirates beginning on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon and a single game on Sunday at noon.
