WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University softball team will wrap up the 2019 regular season this weekend, May 4-5, against the Providence Friars in a BIG EAST series at Nats Youth Academy. The Hoyas will play a doubleheader on Saturday set for noon and finish on Sunday with a single game at noon. A ceremony for the three Hoya seniors will be held before Saturday's game at 11:40 a.m.

The Blue & Gray (13-33, 5-11 BIG EAST) went 1-2 last weekend at Seton Hall. Georgetown defeated the Pirates 6-5 in game one and sophomore
London Diller (Sugar Land, Texas / George Ranch) threw a complete game, allowing five runs off of six hits and struck out five. She was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, her first career recognition, for her efforts in the circle. Additionally, junior
Noelle Holiday (Bear, Del. / Red Lion Christian Academy) had four hits on the weekend and sophomore
Savannah Jones (San Rafael, Calif. / Terra Linda) tallied three hits, including a home run, and four RBIs.
For the season, Holiday leads the Hoyas batting .353 with 41 hits, 10 doubles, eight home runs, 36 RBIs and a .647 slugging percentage. Jones ranks second on the squad with a .303 batting average, 40 hits, eight doubles, three triples, a pair of homers and 21 RBIs. Freshman
Mae Forshey (Phoenix, Ariz. / Arcadia) rounds out the top three on the team batting .300 to go along with a team high of 42 hits, nine doubles, a home run and 25 RBIs.
The Friars are 28-20 on the season and 9-8 in the league. They are coming off of a 5-4 loss on Tuesday at UMass. Providence led the majority of the game 4-3 after scoring all four runs in the first three innings but gave up a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to drop the decision. For the season, Emma Lee leads the team batting .415 with 61 hits, nine doubles, 15 RBIs and a .460 on-base percentage. In the circle, Daniela Alvarez registers a 2.03 ERA and has recorded 126 strikeouts in 151.2 innings pitched.
The Blue & Gray is 9-15 all-time against the Friars. Last season, GU dropped a pair of losses at Providence in the BIG EAST opening weekend.
