WASHINGTON– The Georgetown University women's varsity eight boat was named Patriot League Boat of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon. This is the second boat of the week award for the 1v8 squad and fourth recognition by the league this season.
On Sunday, the annual George's Cup race against George Mason and George Washington started with the Blue & Gray finishing in first place with a time of 6:43.3, 28.3 seconds ahead of GMU and 34.7 seconds ahead of GW. The first-place finish gave the Hoyas the early lead in the race for the Cup with nine points.
Georgetown went on to win the George's Cup with 15 overall points on the day, narrowly beating the Colonials who held the cup from last season.
