WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Baseball Head Coach Pete Wilk has announced the addition of Aaron Tarr to the coaching staff. Tarr, who spent the last seven seasons as the head coach at George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church, Virginia, will serve as GU's volunteer coach while assisting with the team's outfield, hitters and baserunning.
 
"We're excited to have someone of Aaron's experience and energy join our staff," Wilk said. "He brings a high level of both and will be a welcomed addition to the Hoya family."
 
Prior to his arrival on the Hilltiop, Tarr had served as the Marshall High School (Va.) head coach since 2012, compiling a 116-47 record and leading Marshall to six-straight district titles as well as state and regional runner-up finishes in 2015. He was named the district coach of the year four times (2014-15, 2017-18) as well as the 2015 state coach of the year. In his seven years, Tarr had 29 players move on to play at the collegiate level.
 
Since 2010, Tarr has served as the founder and a head coach for the Cadets Baseball Program. A developmental program focused on Marshall, Mclean, Falls Church, and Madison High Schools, the Cadets Baseball Program helps players, ages 13-15, prepare for varsity high school baseball.
 
He coached for 10 seasons in the regional showcase program, where he coached more than 50 players who went on to play at the Division I level. Tarr was heavily involved in talent evaluation and outreach, while taking an active role on communication with college coaches and player recruitment for the program.
 
Tarr has also coached collegiately, serving as an assistant coach for the Herndon/FCA Braves of the Cal Ripken Summer Collegiate League for each of the past three summers.
 
Off the diamond, Tarr has been the co-owner of Ignite Baseball, a baseball training facility in Northern Virginia, since 2018. He also held the position of analytics and business development director for R&D Baseball Academy from 2014-18 where he was responsible for identifying new methods in data collection and analysis. From 2010-14, Tarr served as a lead instructor for the Virginia Baseball Club where he developed curriculum and programming.
 
Tarr graduated in December 2002 with a bachelor of arts from Hamilton College where he was also a member of the baseball program. He earned his masters of science degree in December 2005 from the University of Liverpool in England. He currently lives in Annandale, Virginia with his wife, Rachel, and his two children, Jacob and Hannah.
