Trio of Hoyas Earn BIG EAST Weekly Honors; Host Mount St. Mary’s

WASHINGTON – Three Georgetown University men's lacrosse players earned BIG EAST recognition following Saturday's dominating 25-12 victory over Fairfield in the 2020 home opener. Jake Carraway was a repeat pick as Attack Player of the Week, Carson Milburn was named Freshman of the Week and Gibson was selected to the Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Monday. The Hoyas have a quick turnaround and welcome longtime rival Mount St. Mary's to the Hilltop on Tuesday.

Jake Carraway, Sr., A, Annapolis, Md.
•    Repeat selection as BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week.
•    Led the Hoyas with three goals and five assists for eight points.
•    Assisted on the game-winning goal by Dylan Watson.
•    Added six ground balls and a caused turnover.

Carson Milburn, Fr., FO, Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
•    Dominant at the 'X', winning 18-of-24 (.750) faceoffs on the day.
•    Collected 14 ground balls.
•    Had only taken three faceoffs on the season prior to Saturday's victory.

Gibson Smith, Jr., D, Pelham, N.Y.
•    Led all players with three caused turnovers and nine ground balls on defense.
•    Collected the most ground balls of any non-FOGO in the BIG EAST on the week.

ABOUT GEORGETOWN
•    Georgetown is coming off a 25-12 victory over Fairfield, the sixth-most goals scored in program history and the most since 1992.
•    The Hoyas have now scored at least 20 goals in 20 different games in the program's 50-year varsity history.
•    Jake Carraway (3G, 5A) led the Hoyas with eight points. Dylan Watson added a career-high seven goals against the Stags and both Robert Clark (3G, 1A) and Graham Bundy Jr. (1G, 3A) added four points each.
•    Thirteen different Hoyas scored a goal in the game and 18 of GU's 25 goals were assisted.
•    Carson Milburn continued Georgetown's dominance at the 'X', winning 18-of-24 faceoffs on the day and collecting 14 GBs.
•    Defensively, Owen McElroy collected 14 saves between the pipes in just over three quarters of play.

ABOUT MOUNT ST. MARY'S
•    The Mountaineers are coming off a 9-4 loss to UMBC in its home opener.
•    Luke Frankeny leads the Mount with nine points (3G, 6A) while a trio of his teammates also have three goals on the year.
•    Dylan Furnback has earned all three goalie decisions, posting a 1-2 record with 33 saves, a .500 save percentage and an 11.06 goals against average on the year.

SERIES HISTORY
•    Georgetown and Mount St. Mary's have one of the longest-standing rivalries, a span of 36 games dating back to 1973.
•    The Hoyas own a 19-17 all-time mark against the Mount and have won five of their last six meetings.
•    Last season in Emmitsburg, Maryland, Carraway led the Hoyas with four goals and a pair of assists while Massimo Bucci posted the first hat trick of his career.
•    On the defensive end, Smith had three caused turnovers and six ground balls while Zachary Geddes collected eight ground balls.
