No. 25 Georgetown Hosts Johns Hopkins on Wednesday

WASHINGTON – The No. 25 Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad will host the Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays on Wednesday at Cooper Field at 4 p.m.  The Hoyas are currently 2-1 on the year coming off of their first road victory of the season.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is coming off of a 12-10 comeback victory on Saturday at Drexel.
  • Senior attacker Michaela Bruno led the way with five points on four goals and an assist, while classmate Natalia Lynch added four goals as well as a squad-best seven draw controls.
  • Sophomore attacker Celia Walsh managed a goal and an assist for two points in the game.
  • Georgetown outshot Drexel 32-22 and pulled in 14 draw controls to Drexel's 10.
  • GU forced 16 turnovers, and committed 11 in the contest.
  • In the cage, senior Michaeline DiNardo was awarded the victory with seven saves on the afternoon. 
  • For her efforts in the contest, Lynch was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week marking her second honor so far this season.
 
About the Blue Jays
  • Hopkins is coming off a 15-12 loss at then 11th-ranked Penn on Saturday. 
  • Mackenzie Heldberg and Aurora Cordingley led the Blue Jays with five points each while freshman Carly Steinlauf had a game-high four goals. 
  • For her goals, Steinlauf was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
  • The Blue Jays were selected fifth in the Big Ten Preseason Poll.
 
Series Information
  • Georgetown is 10-12 all-time against the Blue Jays and 5-5 at home. 
  • Last year, Hopkins managed to pull out the 12-11 victory in Baltimore scoring in the final seconds.
  • The last meeting on the Hilltop was a 15-14 victory for the Blue & Gray in 2018.
  • The squads have played some close ones with the past three meetings being decided by one goal and seven matchups in the series as one-goal affairs.
