No. 25 Hoyas Host Delaware at Cooper Field

WASHINGTON – The No. 25 Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad will host the University of Delaware Blue Hens on Saturday at Cooper Field at 3 p.m.  The Hoyas are currently 2-2 on the season with two games this week.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is coming off of a heartbreaking 15-14 loss to Johns Hopkins on Wednesday at Cooper Field.
  • The Hoyas battled back over the final 10 minutes to tie the game at 14 with 37 seconds on the clock on a goal from sophomore attacker Ali Diamond.  Georgetown had a look on their final possession, but the shot was saved and sent up the field for the game winner with no time remaining.
  • Senior midfielder Natalia Lynch had a huge night setting a new program single game record with 14 draw controls to go along with three goals and four assists.
  • Diamond managed four goals and an assist, while sophomore midfielder Annabelle Albert scored the hat trick as well as an assist, and senior attacker Emily Ehle managed a pair of goals.
  • Georgetown held an incredible 26-4 advantage in draw controls, but allowed Hopkins to be 22-26 on clears.
  • GU outshot the Blue Jays 33-22, but had 16 turnovers to JHU's three.
  • Earlier in the week Lynch was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week marking her second honor so far this season.
 
About the Blue Hens
  • Delaware is currently 0-2 on the season falling at Rutgers (13-11) and at George Mason (11-8) to begin the 2020 campaign.
  • The Blue Hens will play their first three games of the season on the road completing the swing at Georgetown on Saturday.
  • Delaware was picked to finish fourth in the CAA Preseason Coaches Poll.
  • Midfielder Mia DeRuggiero was named CAA Preseason Team after being a First Team All-CAA honoree as a freshman.  She currently has two goals and one assist on the year.
 
Series Information
  • Georgetown is 5-3 all-time against the Blue Hens and 3-1 at home. 
  • The squads have met consecutively for the past eight seasons, never playing prior to the 2012 campaign.
  • Last year, the Blue & Gray picked up the 15-11 victory in Delaware as a pair of Hoyas scored four goals apiece to get the win.
  • The last meeting at Cooper Field was a 12-8 GU win when Michaela Bruno scored five goals in the contest.
