WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's Owen McElroy was named the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. McElroy led the Hoyas' stout defensive efforts to a stifling 16-4 victory at Towson in Saturday.

• Led the Hoyas to a 16-4 victory between the pipes against Towson on the road.
• Collected nine saves while allowing just four goals.
• Also had three ground balls.
• Held Towson scoreless for the first 13:53 of the game and held the Tigers scoreless for another 23:06 between the second and third quarters.
• Georgetown's defense has held opponents to four goals or fewer in three games this season.
NEXT FOR THE HOYAS
• Georgetown remains on the road next weekend as it travels to face No. 3/4 North Carolina on Saturday, March 14 at 1 p.m. The meeting is the first in program history between the Hoyas and the Tar Heels.
