Georgetown to Host Siena at Capital One Arena on Friday

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team will look to build upon its first win of the season when Siena comes to Capital One Arena on Friday for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff. Healthcare workers are eligible to receive a complimentary ticket by visiting GUHoyas.com.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Georgetown University men's basketball team picked up its first win of the season and first at Capital One Arena since Feb. 8, 2020, after downing the American University Eagles, 79-57, on Tuesday evening.
  • Three players finished in double figures as Aminu Mohammed registered his first career double-double by tallying a game-high 14 points with 10 rebounds and a pair of rejections.
  • Dante Harris recorded 13 points to go along with four assists and four boards while Donald Carey rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor and added a contest-leading six assists.
  • Timothy Ighoefe made his season debut, grabbing a career-high 11 boards to go along with six points on a perfect 3-of-3 shooting.
  • The Hoya center tallied seven rebounds in the first half, the most in a regular season contest since Jamorko Pickett tallied seven in the opening frame against Creighton on Feb. 9, 2021.
  • Freshmen Tyler Beard, Jalin Billingsley and Jordan Riley tallied eight points apiece while combining for 10 rebounds.
  • The freshmen class of Beard, Billingsley, Mohammed, Riley and Ryan Mutombo have factored into nearly half of the team's scoring this season, combining for 67 of the team's 139 points (48.2%) through two games.
  • Three Hoyas are averaging double figures with Mohammed leading the way with 15.5 ppg, followed by Carey (13.0) and Harris (10.5).
 
ABOUT THE SAINTS
  • The Saints enter Friday's contest on a three-game losing streak to open the 2021-22 campaign.
  • Siena has scored a 12th-worst 54.7 points per game (338th of 350) while surrendering 80.0 per contest, sitting in a tie for 315th in NCAA Division I.

ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Georgetown and Siena will face off for the first time in nearly 50 years with their last matchup coming in the 1973-74 season. The Hoyas defeated the Saints, 70-56.
