Hazen and Lynch Earn BIG EAST Weekly Awards

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University graduate student Natalia Lynch and freshman attacker Kylie Hazen earned BIG EAST Conference awards on Monday as announced by the league. Lynch was selected as the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week, while Hazen was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.

  • Lynch filled the stat sheet in a busy three-game week for the Hoyas totaling six points, 12 groundballs, 14 draw controls and nine caused turnovers.
  • Against No. 3 Syracuse on Tuesday, Lynch had game highs of six ground balls, six draw controls and four caused turnovers while adding on a goal in the second half.
  • In the split weekend series with Marquette, the graduate student totaled four goals, an assist, six ground balls, eight draw controls and five caused turnovers.
  • The midfielder is third on the team in scoring with 19 goals and six assists for 25 points on the season.
  • She leads the team in caused turnovers with 21 as well as draw controls managing 47.
  • Lynch is program leader in career draw controls with 258.
  • This is her eighth-career BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week honor.

  • Hazen totaled nine points off eight goals, and an assist, to go along with two ground balls and two caused turnovers in a three-game week against No. 3 Syracuse and Marquette.
  • In the BIG EAST series with the Golden Eagles, Hazen finished with seven goals to tie for the weekend series high.
  • She added two ground balls and two caused turnovers against Marquette.
  • In Sunday's win, Hazen had an impressive five goals to lead the Blue & Gray.
  • Hazen is currently leading the team in scoring with 22 goals and 10 assists for 32 points on the year.
  • This is her third freshman of the week honor this season and GU's third and fourth player of the week awards in 2021.

  • The Hoyas will host the Butler Bulldogs next weekend in another two-game BIG EAST Conference series. The first meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday at Cooper Field and Sunday's game will begin at noon for GU's last regular season home contest of the year.
