WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team will open its season on Saturday, September 11 when the squad travels to Delaware State for a matchup with the Hornets. As the 2021 season draws nearer, GUHoyas.com has been taking an in-depth look at each of the team's position groups, with this edition featuring the wide receivers.
The Hoyas have a lot of talent at the wide receiver position with a strong blend of returning veterans and new faces. The Blue & Gray have three upperclassmen back who accounted for more than half of the team's receptions in 2019, as well as three more who will be looking to add depth and increase their role this season. Five newcomers have joined the room that will also look to make an immediate impact for the Hoyas.
"I am very excited about the overall talent of this group," said Assistant Coach Steve Thames. "We have experienced players who are proven playmakers and some talented young men that will surprise some people. The guys bought in and took the coaching during camp, and I can't wait to see them put it all together this season."
Veteran Returners
- Senior Joshua Tomas caught a team-high 53 passes in 2019 while tying for the team lead with five touchdown receptions and ranking second with 709 receiving yards. He also rushed for 105 yards and another score.

- Fifth-year senior Cooper Melton was only able to appear in six games in his first season on the Hilltop, catching two passes for seven yards.
- Dylan Hatajik appeared in one game as a sophomore in 2019, and will battle for more significant minutes as a senior.
- Juniors Dorrian Moultrie and Tiy Reed both look to play increased roles after Moultrie missed his freshman season due to injury and Reed appeared in five games, mostly on special teams.
