WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's soccer midfielder
Chris Hegardt signed a professional contract with Charlotte FC of Major League Soccer (MLS) as announced by the team on Thursday. Hegardt's MLS Homegrown rights were traded from the Seattle Sounders and he signed a contract until 2023 with option years in 2024 and 2025.
Hegardt was a Third Team All-BIG EAST honoree this past season after appearing in 21 games with 20 starts to his credit. The midfielder tallied five assists on the season as Georgetown won both the BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament Championships as well as advancing to the College Cup.
In his career on the Hilltop, Hegardt has appeared in 35 games with 31 starts and has scored three goals with seven assists for 13 career points. He has also won two BIG EAST Weekly Awards.
