Hoyas Travel to No. 20 Johns Hopkins for Wednesday Matchup

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team will travel to No. 20 Johns Hopkins University for a nonconference matchup against the Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon. The opening draw is scheduled for 4 p.m. This will be the second road contest of the season for the Blue & Gray.

About the Hoyas

  • The Hoyas are currently 1-1 on the season after playing one contest on the road at American and one contest at home against Rutgers. 

  • The season opener at American University saw a commanding 20-8 victory for the Hoyas in which 11 different Hoyas were able to find the back of the net. 

  • Georgetown allowed a big fourth quarter run as the squad fell 17-16 to then-No. 17 Rutgers in the home opener at Cooper Field.

  • Seniors Ali Diamond and  Annabelle Albert and sophomore Tatum Geist lead the Hoyas in total points with eight, seven and seven.  

  • Albert and Diamond were able to combine for eight goals in the home contest against No. 17 Rutgers. 

About the Blue Jays

  • Johns Hopkins is 2-1 overall and is coming off of a 10-8 road victory at No. 10 Penn last Saturday.

  • In that contest, six different Blue Jays scored a goal.

  • Johns Hopkins leads opponents 49-43 in ground balls and 39-18 in caused turnovers on the young season. 

  • Senior Georgia Esmond leads the team in total points on the season with 11 by scoring five goals and tallying six assists.

  • Georgetown is 9-8 all-time against the Blue Jays and 5-3 on the road. 

  • Georgetown fell 15-14 at Cooper Field in 2021. Ali Diamond scored four goals on the afternoon, while Jordyn Sabourin managed to record eight draw controls in the loss.

Next Time Out

  • The Blue & Gray will return home to Cooper Field this Saturday to take on the University of Delaware in a matchup that is scheduled for 3 p.m.
