Box Score 2 WASHINGTON – Georgetown softball traveled to Omaha, Nebraska this weekend to open BIG EAST Conference play with a win over Creighton, 6-4. The Hoyas game slated for Friday was canceled and Saturday's was pushed to Sunday due to inclement weather, but the two sides were only able to finish one game of the series. The Hoyas rise to 10-11 on the season as the Bluejays fall to 10-8.
How it Happened
- With bases loaded in the first inning, Kayla Dunn singled to left field advancing Alyssa Chavez and Savannah Jones home (2-0).
- Creighton's Vejvoda and Mason put hits on the board for the Bluejays to tie the game (2-2). Wilson homered to put CU up 3-2.
- Jones hit her sixth home run this season with a two-RBI hit to bring Chavez across home plate (4-3).
- The Bluejays had a run in the fifth to tie the game again, 4-4.
- Lorena Vasquez-Inzunza's hit in extra innings allowed pinch runner Brittany Lew to advance home (5-4).
- Kiki Besnard closed out the game for GU when she singled up the middle and Vasquez-Inzunza made it 6-4 for the Hoyas win.
