WASHINGTON – The Georgetown track & field team opened the 2022 outdoor season on Friday with a short trip to Richmond, Virginia for the Fred Hardy Invitational, hosted by the University of Richmond at Robins Stadium. The Blue & Gray put together eight performances among the top three including a win. The meet sees athletes competing out of their event area as well as others toeing the line in their event for the first time this year.
DIRECTOR OF TRACK & FIELD ALTON McKENZIE
"This was a good outdoor season opener for our team. Impressive win for Chris Pitt jumping 7.10m in the long jump for his first collegiate win. I also was impressed with freshman
Aaron Lindsey continuing to show progress finishing second in the 400m running 49.03. On the women's side,
Renee Newton ran a big PB competing in her first 800m outdoor running 2:11.80 to finish fourth overall. In the field
Chloe Williams was just off her PB jumping 5.76m for second place in the long jump. Overall, we were very productive as a team taking full advantage of great weather to start off our outdoor season. We're looking to build on that as we head to the Raleigh Relays next weekend."
HOYA HIGHLIGHTS

- On the track, the men's 400-meter dash saw Aaron Lindsey and Jabril El-Amin run 49.03 (2nd) and 49.30 (3rd), respectively, as the duo each started the season with personal bests in the event.
