WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will look to build upon its nine-homer performance when BIG EAST foe Villanova comes to town, opening conference play in Waldorf, Maryland at Regency Furniture Stadium, home of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.
The Hoyas and the Wildcats will begin the three-game set on Friday at 4 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday and a 1 p.m. game on Sunday

ABOUT THE HOYAS
- Georgetown is coming off of a pair of explosive midweek matches, smacking 11 home runs in the last two games, including a program-record nine in Wednesday's 17-11 win over Coppin State.
- Jake Hyde swings a hot bat heading into BIG EAST play, riding a four-game homer streak and an eight-game hitting streak. The Hoya right fielder has logged 12 home runs this year, leading the conference and sitting in a three-way tie for fourth place all-time for homers in a season.
- Hyde paces the BIG EAST and is ranked inside the nation's top 25 with 45 hits, 12 home runs, a .417 batting average, an .852 slugging percentage, 11 doubles and 34 RBIs.
- Ethan Stern reached the 100-run plateau for his career on Wednesday, totaling a conference-leading 33 tallies on the season.
- Angelo Tonas leads the team with 15 appearances in 2022, boasting a 1-1 mark with four saves, a 2.89 ERA and 24 strikeouts across 18.2 innings of work.
- Georgetown leads the conference with 49 home runs (T-3rd in NCAA) while scoring 196 runs this season (7.8 per game). GU is five home runs away from breaking the program's single-season home run record of 54 (2010).
- The Hoyas are off to their best start at home, posting a 9-1 record and boasting a .318/.419/.636 slash line as a team with 9.4 runs/game.
SCOUTING VILLANOVA
- The Wildcats (7-13-1) enters BIG EAST play having won its last four contests, downing Liberty three times before knocking off Delaware State in their midweek contest.
- Chris Rotondo paces the Villanova lineup with a .383 batting average, 31 hits, six homers, 27 runs scored and 22 RBIs in 21 starts this season.
- It has been nearly four years since the Hoyas have hosted the Wildcats, sweeping the visiting team on May 4-6, 2018 by scores of 8-7, 9-3 and 4-1.
