WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's rowing team competed in the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, sending shells in six race categories during the two-day regatta.
Five Georgetown shells reached the finals, with each of them bringing home hardware for the Hoyas. The varsity 8+ placed first in its heat and second in the semifinal before outpacing the field of competition to win gold in the Grand Final. The second varsity 4+ and the second varsity 8+ earned silver medals in their races, finishing behind Drexel in both Grand Finals. The varsity 2x came in third to earn a bronze medal for Georgetown. The varsity 4+ won its heat on Saturday but placed fifth in the Grand Final on Sunday. The novice 4+ qualified for the petite final on Sunday and finished sixth in the race. With these placements, the Hoyas earned the Knecht Cup as the highest scoring team in the regatta.
