Box Score WALDORF, Md. - The Georgetown University baseball team fell 4-1 against Xavier on Friday evening. GU dropped to 22-16 overall with a 4-6 BIG EAST record while the Musketeers jumped to 20-19 with a 3-4 conference record.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS

• Andrew Ciufo smacked his eighth homer of the season, finishing 1-for-4 at the dish.
• Owen Carapellotti, Christian Ficca, Cam Meyer and Ethan Stern all tallied one base knock.
• McCarthy dominated across 6.2 innings of work, allowing just one run on seven hits while tallying eight strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• After a pair of scoreless innings, Xavier scored first with a one-run top of the third (1-0).
• McCarthy worked himself out of trouble in the top of the fifth, stranding runners on first and third to keep it at 1-0.
• Ciufo tied the game at one in the home half of the fifth, smashing a solo shot to left center.
• Both teams exchanged blows but neither squad put runs on the board until the Musketeers scored three runs in the top of the ninth to knock off the Hoyas 4-1.
