Women’s Lacrosse Travels to Butler

 

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team will continue the BIG EAST Conference season at Butler this Saturday. The opening draw is scheduled for noon. The Hoyas are coming off a close road victory against the Villanova Wildcats.

About the Hoyas

  • The Hoyas are 6-6 on the season and currently hold a 4-2 road record.

  • In the most recent contest, Georgetown picked up its first BIG EAST Conference win in a 13-11 victory over Villanova on Saturday afternoon. 

  • The Blue & Gray trailed 8-3 at halftime against the Wildcats and then were able to even the score at 10-10 going into the fourth quarter. Georgetown would outscore Villanova 3-1 in the final quarter to secure the 13-11 victory.

  • GU outshot Villanova 27-23 but trailed 18-9 in draw controls.

  • Ali Diamond leads the squad with 31 points on 20 goals and 11 assists. 

  • Freshman Emma Gebhardt has tallied 24 points this season on 18 goals and six assists while Erin Bakes has 23 points on 16 goals and seven assists. 

  • LizaBanks Campagna paces the Georgetown defensive effort as she has 81 draw controls with five caused turnovers. Emma Driggs has 36 draw controls and Jordyn Sabourin has 17.

  • Melissa Massimino adds 11 draw controls to go along with 22 caused turnovers and Olivia Buckman has 13 caused turnovers to go with four draw controls. 

About the Bulldogs

  • Butler is 6-5 on the season with a 3-2 record in home contests. 

  • The Bulldogs are coming off a big 21-2 home victory over Saint Ambrose in their last contest on Tuesday afternoon. 

  • Butler leads opponents 149-131 in total goals scored vs. goals allowed in addition to leading 88-42 in assists and 88-83 in caused turnovers. 

  • Campbell Connors paces the offensive attack with 30 goals and five assists for a team-high 35 points. 

  • Greer Bireley is a key facilitator in the Butler offense as she leads the team with 25 assists to go along with eight goals.

  • Leah Rubino is a major factor in the defensive effort as she has 23 caused turnovers to go along with 44 draw controls.

 

Series Info

  • This is the sixth ever meeting between the two sides.

  •  Georgetown holds a 5-0 advantage and in its last outing defeated Butler 18-7 at Cooper Field in April, 2019.
