Stokes Earns His Ticket to Eugene in the 3,000M Steeplechase

WASHINGTON Parker Stokes earned a spot in the NCAA Championships next month after winning his heat in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday at the NCAA East Preliminaries. The junior took the third best time of the event and is the first Hoya on the men's side to qualify for the finals site of the championships. Stokes will be joined by Maggie Donahue and Charlotte Dannatt on the women's side after they qualified in the 10,000-meter run on Thursday.

ON THE RECORD
"Parker ran a very controlled and mature race to punch his ticket to Eugene. He was an NCAA finalist a year ago and should be in a position to contend for an All-America spot again this year. As a team we accomplished some great things this season and I'm excited about the rest of the season." - Assistant Track & Field Coach / Head Men's Cross Country Coach Brandon Bonsey

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
  • Stokes ran in the third heat of the steeplechase this afternoon finishing first with a time 8:37.04 to win his heat handily.
