WASHINGTON –
Parker Stokes earned a spot in the NCAA Championships next month after winning his heat in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday at the NCAA East Preliminaries. The junior took the third best time of the event and is the first Hoya on the men's side to qualify for the finals site of the championships. Stokes will be joined by
Maggie Donahue and
Charlotte Dannatt on the women's side after they qualified in the 10,000-meter run on Thursday.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Stokes ran in the third heat of the steeplechase this afternoon finishing first with a time 8:37.04 to win his heat handily. Stokes made his move for the lead as the lead pack approached the bell and he never looked back. He was within four seconds of the best time from the East Preliminaries and 11th fastest in the East and West Preliminaries combined.
- It is the second-straight year Stokes advances to the steeplechase semifinals.
