WASHINGTON – The Georgetown track & field team has three athletes competing this week at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon at Hayward Field from June 8-11. Competition begins Wednesday, June 8 with day one of the men's events beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET and will resume on Friday, June 10 at 4 p.m. ET. The women will compete on Thursday June 9 with start times of 6 p.m. ET. The Championships welcome the qualifiers from both the NCAA East and West Preliminaries that occurred May 25-28 in Bloomington, Indiana and Fayetteville, Arkansas, respectively.
Parker Stokes is the lone competitor on the men's side for the Hoyas this week as he is set to run in the semifinal of the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Wednesday evening. The junior won his heat at the East Preliminaries and is a back-to-back BIG EAST Champion in the steeplechase. He also set the then-fastest time in the NCAA this season after winning the steeple at the Virginia Challenge in April with a time of 8:32.22.
Maggie Donahue and
Charlotte Dannatt are the two women representing Georgetown in the 10,000-meter run at the Championships. Donahue finished fourth overall at the East Prelims and earned her spot in this week's finals. Donahue is the reigning BIG EAST 5,000-meter champion while Dannatt is the bronze medalist in the event. The duo will compete Thursday at 11:08 p.m. ET.
