Stokes Sends Himself to NCAA Outdoor Championships’ Final in the Steeplechase

WASHINGTON – Parker Stokes punched his ticket to Friday's final of the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Championships after finishing second in his heat this evening in the event's semifinal. The junior competed against 11 other athletes in his heat, 24 overall, finishing third fastest at 8:26.04. Stokes will compete in the final on Friday, June 10 at 9:24 p.m. ET in Eugene, Oregon.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
  • Stokes sat middle of the pack to begin the race but moved his way around the outside on the final push to slide in just behind BYU's Kenneth Rooks to finish second in the first heat of the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
