WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's golf team had four student-athletes recognized as Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars, as announced by the association this month.
Lauren May and
Elena Zheng were selected for the second time in their Georgetown careers while
Esther Park earned her first nod. Lees earns her first accolade as a Hoya and third overall as she previously garnered the honor twice at Dartmouth.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team was a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50. A total of 1,485 women's collegiate golfers, across all three divisions, were recognized with this prestigious honor.
LAUREN MAY
Junior | Austin, Texas / Westlake
- This is the second WGCA All-American Scholar honor for May, who picked up the accolade as a freshman during the 2019-20 season.
- May competed in nine tournaments this season, averaging 77.70 strokes over 29 rounds played.
- She was part of the Hoya squad that placed second at the BIG EAST Championships as she carded a 14-over par 230 to tie for 15th overall.
ELENA ZHENG
Junior | Fuzhou, Fujian, China / Fuzhou No. 8
- This is the second WGCA All-American Scholar honor for Zheng, who picked up the accolade as a sophomore during the 2020-21 season.
- Zheng competed in five tournaments this season, averaging 80.08 strokes over 15 rounds played.
KAITLYN LEES
Senior | Bryn Mawr, Pa. / Agnes Irwin School / Dartmouth
- This is the first WGCA All-American Scholar honor for Lees on the Hilltop and her third overall, previously earning the accolade as a freshman (2018-19) and sophomore (2019-20) at Dartmouth.
- Lees competed in 10 tournaments this season, averaging 76.63 strokes over 30 rounds played.
- She was part of the Hoya squad that placed second at the BIG EAST Championships as she carded a 10-over par 226 to tie for 10th overall with fellow Hoya Esther Park.
ESTHER PARK
Junior | Wilmington, Del. / Charter School of Wilmington / AI Dupont
- This is the first WGCA All-American Scholar honor for Park.
- Park competed in seven tournaments this season, averaging 78.81 strokes over 21 rounds played.
- She was part of the Hoya squad that placed second at the BIG EAST Championships as she carded a 10-over par 226 to tie for 10th overall with fellow Hoya Kaitlyn Lees.
