WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's volleyball team kicks off its BIG EAST Conference slate with a pair of road matches this weekend. The Hoyas travel to Omaha, Nebraska to face No. 22 Creighton on Friday before taking on Xavier in Cincinnati on Sunday to close out the weekend.

About the Hoyas
- Georgetown (2-9) is coming off a pair of road losses at UC Santa Barbara to close out nonconference play.
- Goyena leads the Hoyas with 3.56 kills per set while Ruth Kayongo and Giselle Williams add 2.40 and 2.39 kps, respectively.
- Lilly Costigan paces the offense with 8.03 assists per set while Emma Plutnicki adds 5.89 aps.
- Defensively, three Hoyas average at least two digs a frame led by Karis Park with 3.97 digs per set. Jessica Cusi adds 2.85 dps while Goyena is good for 2.18 dps.
- At the net, Chanelle Smith is good for 1.19 blocks per set while Brennan Wilhite adds 0.81 bps.
Scouting Creighton
- Friday's action against the Bluejays is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at DJ Sokol Arena.
- Creighton is 8-3 on the season and ranked No. 22 in the most recent AVCA poll following a 1-1 weekend at the Rice adidas Invitational II.
- Norah Sis leads the Bluejays with 3.87 kills per set while Keeley Davis and Kiana Schmitt add 2.87 and 2.26 kps, respectively.
- Kendra Wait paces the offense with 10.57 assists a frame.
- Defensively, Allison Whitten anchors the back row with 3.89 digs per set and was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Wait and Davis both chip in at least three digs a stanza with 3.65 and3.02 dps, respectively. At the net, Kiara Reinhardt is the top threat for Creighton with 0.89 blocks per set on the year.
- Georgetown and Creighton have faced each other 14 times in program history with the Bluejays winning all 14.
Scouting Xavier
- Sunday's showdown with the Musketeers is set for 1 p.m. at the Cintas Center.
- Xavier is 7-3 on the season and is coming off back-to-back wins over Miami (Ohio) and crosstown rival Cincinnati.
- Brooklyn Cink leads XU with 3.18 kills per set while Delaney Hogan and Emma Grace add 2.06 and 2.07 kps, respectively. Carrigan O'Reilly, the reigning BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, adds 1.70 kps.
- O'Reilly paces the offense with 6.63 assists a frame while Logan Flaugh adds 3.72 aps.
- Defensively, Lucia Corsaro averaged 4.16 digs per set with O'Reilly (2.58), Stevie Wolf (2.57) and Alyssa Overbeck (2.47) adding at least two digs a frame. At the net, Hogan's 0.77 bps lead the Musketeers.
- Sunday's match will be the 20th all-time between the two programs as Xavier holds a 17-2 series advantage. Both matches were battles last season as the Hoyas fell 3-2 at home and 3-1 in Cincinnati.
