WASHINGTON – Junior
Gabriella Gilrowski was named the BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week on Tuesday as announced by the league office. The honor follows Gilrowski's record-setting performance to finish as the runner-up at the Princeton Invitational as the Hoyas took third overall. The two-day tournament held on the par-71, 6,109-yard course at the Springdale Golf Club marked the best team and individual finish of the fall season thus far.
GABRIELLA GILROWSKI | JUNIOR | WESTFIELD, INDIANA | MONTVERDE ACADEMY
- Gilrowski carded a 208 (70-70-68) to finish 5-under for the tournament in the best individual 54-hole score in program history. The 208 surpasses Jacquelyn Eleey's 213 at the 2017 Princeton Invitational at the Springdale Golf Course.
- The junior turned in the first runner-up finish since Lauren Gros' runner-up performance at the 2017 BIG EAST Championship.
- Her 68 is her new collegiate record, besting the 69 she shot on the par-71 course at the Coeur d'Alene Collegiate Invitational on September 20.
- Gilrowski recorded 13 birdies, including five in the final round.
- The Indiana native led the Hoyas to a 26-over 878 (302-292-284). It is the second-best 54-hole team score in program history, four strokes behind the record (874; 2016 Ron Moore Intercollegiate) and 10 strokes ahead of next best score (884, 2018 Briar's Creek Invitational).
- This is Gilrowski's first BIG EAST Golfer of the Week honor and the first of the season for the Hoyas. The last GU student-athlete to earn the accolade was Christina Parsells on April 11, 2019.
