WASHINGTON – The No. 23 Georgetown University men's cross country team opened the season on a high note, with five athletes placing in the top 20 at the Spider Alumni Open. The Hoyas won the team race, tallying 34 points over the 6,000-meter course. The women ranked No. 17 in the preseason poll, took second with 50 points, and had two top-10 finishers.
ON THE RECORD
"I thought the men had an excellent showing. Obviously,
Quinn Nicholson and
Sean Laidlaw going 1-2 was great, but I also thought
Price Owens and
Mateo Althouse had strong showings. It always feels good to get a team win as well. The women executed their plan really well.
Grace Jensen had a fantastic Hoya debut, and
Julia Trethaway ran the best race of her career.
Pippa Nuttall and
Cate Joaquin ran very smart patient races as well. This is a great start for both teams, and we are excited to run our full teams in two weeks at Indiana." -Head Men's Cross Country Coach
