Georgetown Travels to Face Providence on Saturday

PROVIDENCE – The Georgetown University women's basketball team will face the Providence College Friars on Saturday at Alumni Hall in a BIG EAST Conference matchup. The opening tip is slated for 5 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (9-9, 2-7 BIG EAST) defeated the DePaul Blue Demons 87-73 on Wednesday night.
  • Freshman Kennedy Fauntleroy led the way with 25 points including a 4-for-6 performance from beyond the arc.
  • Senior captain Graceann Bennett tied her career high with 18 points as well as a squad-best nine rebounds in the game.
  • Rounding out those in double figures was junior Kelsey Ransom with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals as well as graduate student Kristina Moore tallying 12 points on 3-for-5 shooting from three-point land.
  • The Hoyas shot 47.6% (30-63) from the field and 55.6% (10-18) from downtown, while allowing 45.0% (27-60) shooting by the Blue Demons.
  • The Hoyas outrebounded DePaul 39-32, as well as forced 11 Blue Demon turnovers.
  • Fauntleroy is the BIG EAST's top-scoring freshman at 12.2 points per game, including 14.6 in conference play.
  • Ransom leads the BIG EAST with 2.8 spg while Fauntleroy ranks third in the league with 2.3 spg.
  • Overall, Fauntleroy is leading the team in scoring, while Ransom leads the squad with 6.3 rpg and 3.6 apg.
About the Friars
  • Providence is 12-8 on the season and 3-6 in BIG EAST Conference play.
  • The Friars prevailed over Butler 74-66 on Wednesday night, and will be looking for their first in-conference win streak of the season against the Hoyas.
  • Grace Efosa paced the Friars with 16 points and matched her career-high with nine rebounds, while Janai Crooms added 12 points and 11 rebounds for her 10th career double-double.
  • Crooms leads the way with 12.5 ppg and 7.5 rpg on 52.5% from the field. Olivia Olsen is the only other Friar scoring in double figures with 11.9 ppg as well as a team-leading 1.8 blocks per game which is good for second in the BIG EAST.
Series Information
  • The Hoyas are 39-32 all-time against the Friars dating back to the 1981-82 season.
  • The last meeting was a 68-55 Hoya win in the BIG EAST Tournament last season at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. In that game, Milan Bolden-Morris led the way with 18 points, while Bennett added 13 points and a squad-high seven rebounds.
  • Brianna Scott posted 12 points, and Kelsey Ransom rounded out those in double figures with 10 to her credit. Scott and Ransom pulled down six rebounds apiece.
  • The Hoyas also won their last away game against the Friars, with a 55-47 win in Rhode Island early last season.
