Georgetown Baseball Releases 2023 Schedule Presented by MedStar Health

WASHINGTON – Coming off a historic 2022 season that featured a program record 32 wins and 98 home runs, the Georgetown University baseball team will look to build upon its recent success as it announces the 2023 schedule presented by MedStar Health on Monday, January 9.

The Hoyas return eight of nine batters to its lineup while adding a plethora of freshmen and graduate transfers to round the Georgetown roster. GU will play nine contests against five opponents who made the 2022 NCAA Baseball Championship, featuring four against Super Regional teams (UConn & East Carolina), a pair against both 2022 Big Ten Champion Maryland and 2022 MEAC Champion Coppin State as well as one against ACC foe Virginia.

Georgetown will begin its 2023 campaign with 13-straight road games, beginning at the Team USA Complex in Cary, North Carolina with a three-game set against Presbyterian (Feb. 17-19). The Blue & Gray will play five games in four days, facing Navy (Feb. 21) before taking on both host UNC-Wilmington and Iona twice in the weekend slate (Feb. 24-26).

After a March 1 contest against Maryland Eastern Shore, the Hoyas will head back to North Carolina for the LeClair Classic, facing Long Beach State (March 3), Indiana (March 4) and host East Carolina (March 5) before finishing off the season-opening road trip with a date against George Mason (March 7).

GU will play in its home opener at Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy on March 8, facing Navy before a weekend series with Hartford in the District (March 10-12).

Following a pair of midweek matchups against Mount St. Mary's (March 14) and Coppin State (March 15), the Hoyas will square off with Penn State on the road in a three-game series (March 17-19). Georgetown shut out the Nittany Lions 9-0 in their 2022 meeting with six pitchers combining for the shutout and four batters with multi-hit games.

The Hoyas will return to Charlottesville in 2023, challenging ACC foe and 2022 NCAA Regional qualifier Virginia on March 22. Following a three-game home series against Dayton (March 24-26), the Blue & Gray will get a hefty test in its final tuneup before conference action, facing off with 2022 NCAA Regional qualifier Maryland in College Park on March 28.

For the second-consecutive year, Georgetown will square off with Villanova to open BIG EAST play, heading up to the Keystone State for three games (March 31-April 2). The Hoyas took two of three from the Wildcats last season, including a walk-off single by Ubaldo Lopez to take the series.

After a quick stop home for an April 4 game against George Mason, the Hoyas will return north for a three-game slate with Seton Hall in New Jersey (April 6-8). GU also took the series against the Pirates, blanking its visitors twice, including a complete-game shutout from former Hoya Nolan McCarthy.

Following a trip to UMBC (April 12), Georgetown will host Creighton (April 14-16) and Mount St. Mary's (April 19) at Nats Academy.

The Blue & Gray will look to build upon its upset sweep from 2022 when the team heads up to Storrs to face off with UConn (April 21-23). The Hoyas punched their ticket to Prasco Park and set the program record in wins during the final week of the season with a three-game sweep over a ranked Huskies team, highlighted by a pair of walk-off victories from Nolan Matsko and Christian Ficca.

Georgetown will play the next four at home, facing the Terps on April 26 at Nats Academy before welcoming St. John's to the District for a three-game series (April 28-30).

GU opens the final month of the regular season with a road contest against Coppin State before facing Butler at Nats Academy (May 5-7). Prior to taking a bye weekend, the Hoyas will host Maryland Eastern Shore (May 9) and head across the Potomac to face George Washington (May 10).

Georgetown will wrap up the 2023 campaign on the road, stopping at Cincinnati (May 16) before closing out the year at Xavier (May 19-21).
