WASHINGTON – It was a day to rewrite the record books as the Georgetown University women's golf team carded a program-best 284 in the final round of the Atlantic Invitational to set a new 54-hole program record finishing 17-over 869 (293-292-284). A pair of Hoyas among the top 10 sealed eighth place for the Blue & Gray in the 12-team field that competed on the par-71, 5,840-yard course at the Indian Spring Golf Course.
ON THE RECORD
"Another great performance from the team with all around contributions. Gabby and Megan finishing top 10 with a career low for Megan and Lauren tied her career low - puts us in a great position as we move into the middle of our championship season. A true team effort this weekend and we are looking forward to our next tournament." - Head Coach
Kate Schanuel on the team's performance
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gabriella Gilrowski was the top finisher for the Blue & Gray as she placed seventh after carding a three-round score of 4-under 209 (70-68-71). The junior tallied a trio of birdies on the day to finish even for the third round.
- Megan Gormley was just a stroke behind Gilrowski as she tied for eighth with a 3-under 210 (74-69-67). Her 4-under 67 was fueled by five birdies and 12 pars. It is a new 18-hole personal best for Gormley and was the best round of the tournament for the Hoyas.
- Lauren May was the third Hoya finisher as the Texas native tied for 40th, carding a 2-under 69 in the final round to move up 15 spots in the final standings with a 10-over 223 (76-78-69). She tallied four birdies en route to her 2-under performance that matched her career 18-hole best.
