Women’s Lacrosse Welcomes No. 19 Johns Hopkins to Cooper Field

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team returns to the Hilltop to face No. 19 Johns Hopkins (1-2) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Hoyas are 2-2 on the season following a tight road win over Harvard on Saturday. 

About the Hoyas
  • Olivia Rubin led the Hoyas in the team's first road win over Harvard (10-9) with a team best five goals, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. 
  • The goalie tandem of Emily Gaven (7) and Leah Warehime (9) made 16 combined saves against the Crimson for a save percentage of .640. 
  • Warehime was named BIG EAST Defender of the Week for the week of February 27 for her performance against Harvard.
  • Offensive threat Kylie Hazen leads GU with 16 points (seven goals and nine assists) followed by leading scorer Erin Bakes with 13 points from 13 goals. 
  • Hazen (19) and Lily Athanas (12) have been key components to launching the Hoya offense with 31 combined draw controls. 
  • Nicole Massimino leads the defense with seven caused turnovers and eight ground balls. 
About the Blue Jays
  • Johns Hopkins is coming off of a 13-12 overtime loss to Penn on Saturday. The loss caused the Blue Jays to drop three places in the ranking to No. 19. 
  • Georgie Gorelick, the Big Ten Preseason Player to Watch, paces the offense with nine goals followed by Ava Angello and Ashley Angello with six goals and two assists apiece.
  • Reagan O'brien leads the team with 11 caused turnovers and eight ground balls. 
  • The Blue Jays are being led by new head coach Tim McMormack who previously spent three seasons at the helm of the Arizona State program and guided the Sun Devils to the Pac-12 Championship game.
