Georgetown Faces Dayton in Three-Game Series

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will host the University of Dayton for a three-game series this weekend in Washington, D.C. First pitch on Friday is slated for 2 p.m. at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy.
 
GAMEDAY INFORMATION  
ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas are currently 11-9 after dropping two contests to Penn State last weekend and one to No. 8/7 Virginia on Wednesday evening.
  • Three Hoyas hit above .300 last week with Owen Carapellotti (.333), Jake Hyde (.308) and Ubaldo Lopez (.300) leading the team at the plate.
  • Carapellotti and Lopez each earned three walks last week which brings their season totals to eight and 15, respectively.
  • Austin Kretzschmar, Hyde and Lopez are all hitting .288 on the season thus far. On Wednesday against UVA, Austin Kretzschmar hit a two-run bomb to left field for his third home run of the season.
  • Christian Ficca was 2-for-4 at the plate with one run scored against UVA.
  • On the mound GU is led by Jake Bloss who boasts a 2-2 record and has a 3.24 ERA in 25 innings of work. Bloss leads the team in strikeouts with 26.
 
ABOUT DAYTON
  • The Flyers come into the weekend series with a 5-13 record after most recently losing two games to Ohio State and winning one against Northern Kentucky.
  • Ben Jones leads Dayton at the plate with a .375 average on the season. Jones also leads the team in home runs (5), RBIs (17), doubles (6) and hits (27).
  • Eddie Yamin IV is second on the team in home runs with four. He also has four doubles and 14 hits on the season.
  • Mark Manfredi leads the Flyers in innings pitched this season at 24.2. Manfredi has 26 strikeouts this season while allowing 22 hits and 19 runs.
 
UP NEXT
Georgetown will be back in action on Tuesday, March 28 as they take on the Maryland Terrapins. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium.
