Women’s Lacrosse on the Road to Face No. 24 Penn

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women's lacrosse team (5-5) will travel to Philadelphia to take on the No. 24 University of Pennsylvania on Sunday. The opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.

About the Hoyas
  • The Blue & Gray earned its third home win on Tuesday over Dartmouth College (13-8) with eight Hoyas scoring at least one goal. 
  • In net against the Big Green, Emily Gaven made 10 saves in the first half to record a save percentage of .769.
  • The Hoyas have been relying on the goalie tandem of Gaven and Leah Warehime splitting time in net. Warehime earned her first win of the season with six saves against Monmouth. The sophomore totals 45 saves with a 10.08 goals-against average for a save percentage of .506.
  • Emma Gebhardt was awarded BIG EAST Attacker of the Week for the week of March 13 after breaking a single-game program record of 10 goals and 12 points against Monmouth. Gebhardt is tied for first in the NCAA for most goals scored in a single game this season and is tied for fourth all-time in the NCAA.
  • Kylie Hazen has been a key factor in generating offense for the Hoyas with a team-best 16 assists and 35 points and is third with 22 draw controls.  
  • Nicole Massimino paces the defense with 19 caused turnovers and 24 ground balls followed by Olivia Buckmam with 12 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls. 
  • At the draw, Lily Athanas leads the Hoyas with 27 draw controls followed by Maley Starr with 23. 
About the Quakers 
  • The Quakers fell 16-12 to No. 10 Maryland on Wednesday in their first home contest since Penn's home opener on February 18. Penn is now 4-3 on the season with a conference record of 2-0. 
  • Anna Brandt leads the Quakers in scoring with 21 goals and is on a scoring streak of 14 games. The sophomore has tallied five goals in each of Penn's previous two games. 
  • In net, the Quakers have been relying on Kelly Van Hoesen. The senior holds a .395 save percentage and a 10.71 goals-against average.

  • Sunday's matchup will be the 11th all-time meeting between the two programs. Penn holds the 8-2 series lead. 
  • The Hoyas last captured a win against the Quakers 13-12 in two overtimes in the first round of the 2019 NCAA tournament.
