WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will host St. John's in a three-game series this weekend. Saturday, April 29 will feature a doubleheader with game one starting at 3:30 p.m. and game two starting 45 minutes after the conclusion of game one. This weekend's contests will be streamed for free on YouTube.
GAMEDAY INFORMATION
ABOUT THE HOYAS
- The Hoyas are currently 23-19 after dropping a midweek contest to Maryland.
- GU captured its first ranked win on the road since 2016 as the Hoyas downed the then-No.15 UConn Huskies 6-2 in game two of Saturday's doubleheader.
- Ubaldo Lopez and Jake Hyde lead the Hoyas at the plate, slashing .345/.478/.710 and .341/.403/.671, respectively. Lopez and Hyde are tied for the team lead in home runs with 14 each and Owen Carapellotti sits just behind them with 11 home runs on the season.
- Carapellotti was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for his performances last week. The sophomore was fantastic slashing .471/.526/.941 with two home runs, a triple and eight RBIs. The sophomore recorded eight hits and scored eight runs while earning two walks in four games this week.
- On the mound for GU, Jake Bloss leads the way for the Blue & Gray with a team-high 52 innings pitched this season. Bloss boasts a 5-3 record with a 2.42 ERA. In 10 appearances this season, Bloss has 59 strikeouts and holds his opponents to a .219 batting average.
- Last season, the Red Storm took two games in the three-game set by scores of 11-8 and 10-9, respectively.
ABOUT ST. JOHN'S
- The Red Storm come into the weekend with a 19-20 record and a 2-7 record in BIG EAST play. The Johnnies dropped two midweek contests this week to Rutgers (3-1) and Fairleigh Dickinson (7-6) after being swept by Creighton last weekend.
- Aaron Mann leads St. John's at the plate slashing, .377/.469/.521 with four home runs on the season. Tate Ballestero leads the Johnnies in RBIs (33), doubles (11) and home runs (8) this season.
- Nick Cirelli leads the Red Storm on the mound this season with a 2-3 record and a 3.92 ERA in 39 innings of work. Cirelli has 43 strike outs and five saves on the season.
- Joe Mascio has been stout on the mound for the Johnnies this season as well with a 3-3 record and a 4.44 ERA in 48.2 innings of work. Mascio has 48 strikeouts and holds his opponents to a .251 average.
