WASHINGTON – Georgetown junior Christian Ficca was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday. Ficca was pivotal in the Hoyas efforts to qualify for the BIG EAST Championships last weekend against Xavier.

• The Chevy Chase, Maryland native was outstanding for GU in four games last week slashing .400/.500/1.067.
• Ficca recorded three home runs and seven RBIs last week.
• The junior had one double, three walks, six hits and five runs scored.

The Hoyas will be back in action again on Wednesday, May 24 as the Hoyas face UConn in the first round of the BIG EAST Championships presented by JEEP. First pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m. at Prasco Park in Cincinnati.
