WASHINGTON - The Georgetown men's and women's cross country teams head to Mechanicsville, Virginia to start their seasons at the Spider Alumni Open hosted by Richmond University. The women's team enters the season ranked No. 11 in the national preseason poll from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) and are ranked first in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The men's team is ranked third in the Mid-Atlantic in its preseason poll.

- The meet begins at 9:15 a.m. ET with the men's 6,000-meter race. The women's 4,000-meter race is set for 9:50 a.m. ET.
ABOUT THE NO. 11 GEORGETOWN WOMEN
- The Georgetown women enter the season ranked 11th nationally in the USTFCCCA preseason rankings. They are also tabbed as the No. 1 team in the Mid-Atlantic region.
- The Hoyas are one of two BIG EAST programs ranked in the preseason top 30 alongside No. 14 Providence.
- The program enters the season coming off its third-consecutive BIG EAST title.
- Returners to the program include All-American Maggie Donahue, who finished 21st in the NCAA Cross Country Championships for her third-consecutive All-America nod in cross country.
- Also returning is Melissa Riggins who finished 12th in the BIG EAST championship and 15th in the Mid-Atlantic region championship last season.
- Georgetown ended the 2022 season with a 10th-place finish at the NCAA Championships, with Donahue (10th) and Riggins (125th) returning to the team.

ABOUT THE GEORGETOWN MEN
- The Georgetown men enter the 2022 season ranked as the No. 3 squad in the Mid-Atlantic region's preseason poll and received votes in the national rankings.
- The Hoyas closed the 2022 season with a 31st-place finish at the NCAA Championships led by Parker Stokes' 30:27.8 finish in the 10,000 meter race
- Stokes also finished fourth in the BIG EAST championship, leading the Hoyas to third overall. Returning Hoyas Lucas Guerra and Quinn Nicholson also finished in the top 20.
- Abel Teffra, alongside Guerra, Nicholson, and Stokes helped Georgetown finish second at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals.
