WASHINGTON – For the second-straight tournament, the Georgetown women's golf team walks away with a win - this time at the Princeton Invitational, a two-day tournament held at the Springdale Golf Course. Going into the day with a nine-stroke lead, the Hoyas held off the rest of the 12-team field, including a surging Dartmouth squad that went 9-under in the final round of the tournament. The Blue & Gray took the win with a 10-over 862 (283-293-286) on the par-71, 6,109-yard course in Princeton, New Jersey.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A trio of Hoyas tied for fifth at 3-over 216 in Jiaying "Jasmine" Lai, Megan Gormley and Morgan Smith as the top GU finishers.
- Jiaying Lai went 3-over 216 (73-73-70) with a pair of birdies in the final round to go along with 15 pars.
- Megan Gormley's 3-over 216 (71-75-70) was fueled by her 1-under 70 in the final round with a quartet of birdies on the day, including closing on a pair of birdies on 17 and 18.
- Morgan Smith finished the two-day tournament at 3-over 216 (68-73-75) and managed a birdie on 16 to go along with 13 pars.
- Claire Chen, competing as an individual, went 7-over 220 (72-73-75) to finish in a tie for 13th place with 15 pars for the day.
- Georgia Ruffolo carded an 8-over 221 (71-76-74) to tie for 15th place. She managed three birdies on the day as well as 12 pars.
- Vilda Westh Blanc closed the tournament at 10-over 223 (79-72-72) to tie for 20th. She totaled three birdies on the day to go with 11 pars.
- Angela Lee, competing as an individual, tied for 24th at 11-over 224 (76-75-73). Starting on hole 9 in the shotgun start, Lee closed the tournament with a birdie on hole 7 and managed 14 pars on the day.
OF NOTE
- This is the second-straight tournament win for the Blue & Gray after winning the William & Mary Invitational on Tuesday, September 12.
- This is the fourth season in program history the Hoyas have won multiple tournaments (2017-18, 2014-15, 2005-06) and the first time in program history the Hoyas have won back-to-back tournaments.
