WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's cross country team opened their season with a strong showing, finishing second in the field. The men's team received votes in the preseason poll and were ranked No. 3 in the Mid-Atlantic region. The No. 11 women's team also had a strong showing, finishing third in their meet.
ON THE RECORD
"I thought the men got in a good competitive effort today.
Lucas Guerra and
Charlie North worked very well together right at the front of the race. UVA is one of the best teams in the country and those two lined up with their team well. I'm very excited for us to race our full team at UVA in 3 weeks."- Head Men's Cross Country Coach
Brandon Bonsey
"We're pleased with the group that raced today. They came in largely short on collegiate racing experience, so to see them packing up and then climbing the last 1000m was a good sign of their ability to focus and execute for the benefit of the team. I'm looking forward to seeing their progress when they race again at UVA or Lehigh before the end of the month as well as the introduction of the remainder of our squad in that same window."- Head Women's Cross Country Coach
Mitchell Baker
