About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is sitting at 4-1-1 and is coming off of a 2-0 shutout over then-No. 9 James Madison University on Tuesday afternoon at Shaw Field.
  • The Hoyas were fueled by goals from sophomore Jacob Murrell and junior Joe Buck for the squad's second-consecutive shutout of the season.
  • On Monday, senior captain Kenny Nielsen was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in a 1-0 win at Seton Hall in GU's first BIG EAST match of the season.
  • This marked the first weekly award of Nielsen's career despite being a two-time all-conference honoree and the 2023 BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
  • Prior to Seton Hall, the Hoyas had an extended 10-day break after the previous Friday's contest at Maryland was postponed due to inclement weather in the area. The Hoyas and Terps were set to take the pitch before lightning in the area called the match to a halt.
  • Georgetown is led by Murrell with five goals and one assist for 11 points on the season. Senior Kyle Linhares has three goals and two assists for the year with eight points to his credit.
  • In goal, Ryan Schewe has played a majority of the minutes with six saves and a 1.50 goals-against average for the year. His first shutout came in the Seton Hall win. Tenzing Manske has appeared in two games and has four saves to go along with a 2.50 goals-against average and one shutout.
About the Musketeers
  • Xavier (4-2-1, 1-0-0 BIG EAST) is coming off a 2-0 road win at Duquesne on Tuesday marking the first consecutive victories for the Musketeers this season.
  • Jerome Jolly scored the first goal of the match in the 21st minute. An own goal by the Dukes in the 24th minute gave the Musketeers a 2-0 advantage.
  • Xavier opened BIG EAST action with a 4-1 win against DePaul last week at Corcoran Field. The four-goal performance was the most goals scored in a BIG EAST match by the Musketeers since Oct. 31, 2018 versus Butler winning 5-3.
  • Jolly leads the Musketeers in points with eight on three goals and two assists.
  • Taylor Rhinehart has added six points tallying two goals and two assists.
Series Info
  • The Hoyas are 7-5 all-time against the Musketeers and 2-2 on the road.
  • The last meeting was a 3-0 Hoya victory a season ago at Shaw Field as the Hoyas solidified the top spot in the BIG EAST Championship with the win.
  • The last time the teams met in Ohio was a 3-1 Hoya victory during the 2021 campaign.
  • In that win, Will Sands led the team with two goals and an assist.
