WASHINGTON – Georgetown University's men's and women's cross country programs competed in the Paul Short Run this Saturday. The event was hosted by Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The teams competed in three events: Open Men's 8k, Open Women's 6k, and Women's College Gold 6k.
 
 
LAKEMAN LEADS MEN – Open 8,000-meters 

• Caleb Lakeman was Georgetown's top finisher, completing the 8k in 25:09.0 to finish 20th overall.

 FRESHMEN WOMEN SHOW OUT – Open 6,000-meters 

• Freshman Caroline Cummings had a stellar first outing as a Hoya, finishing second in the field with a 21:48.5 finish in the Open Women's 6k. 
• Not far behind was another freshman Alli Cryster. Cryster finished sixth with a 22:28.1 finish. 
• Four Georgetown freshmen finished in the top 40: Cummings, Cryster, Mia Pasha (22nd) and Sally Binder (39th).

WOMEN CHASE THE GOLD – College Gold 6,000-meters

• Alexandra Stout was Georgetown's top finisher, ranking coming in 128^th in the field of 393 runners
• Only three Georgetown runners competed so the team was not given a team result.
• GU Results: 128. Alexandra Stout 21:58.0, 231. Julia Trethaway 22:43.6, 313. DeAnna Martin 23:26.8.

After a week off, both squads will travel to Wisconsin for the Nuttycombe Invitational on October, 13. This will be their final meet before the BIG EAST Championships.
