ON THE RECORD:
"It is always a privilege having teams competing for a National Championship. Both teams competed at a high level; our Women ran well to finish 9th overall, and
Chloe Scrimgeour earned her All-American recognition for 23rd overall in a very tough race. Our Men performed above their ranking entering the meet to finish 23rd;
Abel Teffra's 65 place finish was very inspiring as he worked his way up through the field the entire race. We're very proud of the effort from both teams today to close out the XC Season and we're excited to see what's in store for the Indoor Season as we build on what has been a great cross country Season." -
Director for Track/Field & Cross Country, Alton McKenzie
"It's the sign of a great team when you can race in the season's most intense environment, be slightly off your best level and still fight to be inside the top 10 and equal your national rank. We walked away wanting more, but we are proud of the level we fought to reach. We chase big goals in the biggest moments, and when we fail it's a sign of a life well lived. They can hold their head high not just for today and the Big East Championship, but most importantly a season of chasing difficult tasks together. We're honored to reach the highest team finish in 10 years, and we look forward to seeing future iterations build off their standards of togetherness and trust.
Â
"I thought overall this was a very solid day for the men. We went in ranked 25th and finished 23rd. It's always nice to outperform the rankings.
Abel Teffra ran his best race of the season when it mattered the most. That was excellent veteran leadership. This team bought into a new training style and a patient way of racing all season long. It has been an absolute pleasure to coach them, and I could not be more excited for the indoor season." -
