Georgetown Named East Region Staff of the Year

WASHINGTON - For the second-consecutive year, Georgetown University Head Men's Soccer Coach Brian Wiese and his staff of Connor Klekota, Michael Montross and Brian Bouhl were named the 2024 United Soccer Coaches East Region Coaching Staff of the Year on Friday.  The honor comes after Wiese and company had another outstanding season in his 19-year career on the Hilltop.

Georgetown went 11-5-5 this past season.  Along the way, the Hoyas claimed the 2024 BIG EAST Championship and earned the No. 4 overall seed in the NCAA Championship. It marked the sixth BIG EAST title in program history, and 12th time that GU has earned a tournament seed.

Individually, seven Hoyas earned BIG EAST postseason awards. Tate Lampman was named Freshman of the Year marking the first Hoya to win the award since Derek Dodson in 2017. Senior Maximus Jennings, sophomore Matthew Van Horn and junior Zach Zengue were all named First Team All-BIG EAST.  Senior Joe Buck, Lampman, junior Tenzing Manske and graduate student Marlon Tabora earned spots on the third team rounding out the Hoyas who were recognized.

Wiese is the winningest coach in program history with a record of 235-90-49 over his 19 seasons on the Hilltop. He surpassed Keith Tabatznik who had a record of 220-187-23 (.583) in 22 seasons at Georgetown in 2023.

This is the sixth time in program history that the Hoyas have earned this regional distinction.  It is Wiese's fifth after winning the same award in 2010, 2018, 2021 and 2023.

Each of the 52 (26 men's and 26 women's) coaching staffs receiving Region Staff of the Year honors through a vote of their peers, will be recognized at the College Coaches Awards Ceremony at the United Soccer Coaches Convention on Friday, January 9, 2025, in Chicago.

In addition, the Region Staff of the Year recipients will be placed on the ballot for National Staff of the Year consideration within their respective NCAA division.
