WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will face the Navy Midshipmen in a midweek contest on Wednesday, February 21. First pitch slated for 3 p.m. at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
- Georgetown opened the 2024 campaign at the MLB Desert Invitational in Scottsdale, Arizona where the Hoyas faced Grand Canyon, Cal and No. 24 Kansas State.
- GU went 0-3 in the opening weekend dropping the contests, 5-2, 12-3 and 7-6.
- Josh Rolling was stout for GU batting .375 over the weekend with three hits, three RBIs, one home run and one run scored.
- Christian Ficca and Michael Eze each recorded two doubles over the weekend while Jake Hyde and Owen Carapellotti each earned a hit in the season opener for the second-consecutive season.
- The Hoyas return a plethora of talent as 25 letterwinners from a season ago are back for 2024.
- Georgetown's roster is comprised of student-athletes from 19 different states and the District of Columbia.
- Carapellotti and sophomore Cody Bowker both earned a spot on the Preseason All-BIG EAST team. In 2023, Carapellotti smashed 16 home runs and appeared in all 57 games for GU. Bowker posted a 2.57 ERA in 42.0 innings of action last season while recording 47 strikeouts.
- Eze and Hyde return for GU after earning themselves a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team and Second Team in 2023, respectively. Eze was lethal on the base path for the Blue & Gray tallying a team-high 18 stolen bases to go along with a .290 batting average and 10 home runs. Hyde was second on the team in batting average (.320) and was tied for second in home runs (16). Hyde also recorded a team-high 56 RBIs during the 2023 campaign.
- Head Coach Edwin Thompson enters his fourth season on the Hilltop after posting a 30-27 record in 2023. Thompson has guided the Blue & Gray to back-to-back 30-win seasons for the first time in program history and also had the highest draft pick in program after 2023 as Jake Bloss was taken 99th overall by the Houston Astros.
ABOUT NAVY
- Navy is 2-1 on the season after winning their opening series vs. Elon this past weekend. The Midshipmen dropped game one 10-2 but bounced back in games two and three winning the contests 21-13 and 9-7.
- Zane Raba is batting .600 on the season with six hits in 10 plate appearances. Raba has two doubles, a home run and three RBIs as well as three stolen bags on the season.
- Evan Brown is second on the team in batting average at .444 on the season with four hits, one double and four RBIs.
