Men’s Lacrosse Takes On Top-Ranked Notre Dame

WASHINGTON – Coming off its first win of the season, the 19th-ranked Georgetown University men's lacrosse team travels to face top-ranked and defending National Champion Notre Dame for the 20th time in program history on Sunday in South Bend, Indiana. The Fighting Irish hold a narrow 11-8 series lead over the Hoyas, with both teams winning on each other's home fields the past two seasons.
 
On the Air
  • Opening faceoff for Sunday's game is at 2 p.m. and will be shown on ESPNU with Chris Cotter and Quint Kessenich calling the action.

About Georgetown
  • The Hoyas (1-2) are coming off their first win of the season behind a 12-9 road victory at then-No. 18/19 Penn over the weekend in Philadelphia.
  • Georgetown moved back into the national rankings, coming in at No. 19 in both the USILA and Inside Lacrosse Media polls this week.
  • Graham Bundy Jr. and Aidan Carroll both have seven goals and two assists this season to lead the Hoyas while TJ Haley quarterbacks the offense with 12 points on a team-high 10 assists.
  • Bundy posted four goals and added two assists in the win against the Quakers, garnering BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week accolades and a spot on the USILA National Team of the Week.
  • In goal, Anderson Moore had 12 saves in cage to go with three ground balls against Penn. He was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for his efforts and now has 31 saves on the year in his first collegiate season.
  • James Ball has been stellar for the Blue & Gray, winning 36 of 56 (.642) faceoffs in three games and collecting 17 ground balls. He won the first nine faceoffs, including six in the opening quarter, in the win against Penn to earn a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Scouting Notre Dame
  • The Fighting Irish opened the season with wins against Detroit Mercy and Marquette.
  • Notre Dame is led by the potent attack of Chris and Pat Kavanagh, both of whom have 12 points in just two games this season. Jake Taylor adds 10 points and a team-high nine goals to round out the offense.
  • Liam Entenmann, the reigning Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. Outstanding Goalie award winner and 2023 NCAA Championships Most Outstanding Player, anchors the Irish defense between the pipes. He has a 6.08 GAA to go with 12 saves and a .545 save percentage so far this year.
  • On faceoffs, the duo of Will Lynch and Colin Hagstrom have combined to win 28 of 46 (.608) of their attempts this season along with a combined 16 ground balls.

  • Georgetown and Notre Dame will meet for the 20th time on Sunday.
  • The Irish hold a scant 11-8 series advantage.
  • Notre Dame won the last meeting, 15-8 on the Hilltop, while the Hoyas defeated ND 16-11 in South Bend in 2022.
