ABOUT THE HOYAS

  • Georgetown (3-5) is coming off a midweek defeat to the Maryland Terrapins on Tuesday afternoon. The Hoyas fell 14-5 in the first contest of a three-game season series against the Terps.
  • Jake Hyde hit two home runs against Maryland tying him with Ubaldo Lopez for most home runs in program history with 39. Hyde has been on a tear early this season slashing .333/.333/.806 with three doubles, a triple, four home runs and 12 RBIs. Hyde earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor roll for his performances last week. The senior was stellar in a 3-1 week for GU tallying four runs scored, six hits, two doubles and one triple to go along with two home runs.
  • Hyde is one home run away from being the program leader in home runs and is also 26 hits away from joining the 200 hit club, an accomplishment that only 11 players have ever achieved in program history.
  • Senior Christian Ficca has been stout on the offensive end for GU batting .310 so far on the season. The Chevy Chase, Maryland native has a team-high five doubles this season as well as three walks which is also tied for first on the team.
  • Owen Carapellotti has been solid behind the dish for GU this season catching all eight games thus far. The former Freshman All-American and Preseason All-BIG EAST selection is batting .290 with two home runs, a double, a triple and six RBIs.
  • Everett Catlett leads the Hoyas on the mound this season with 10.1 innings of action on the bump. The redshirt sophomore has allowed 15 hits and eight earned runs across his 10 innings while striking out nine in the process.
  • Head Coach Edwin Thompson enters his fourth season on the Hilltop after posting a 30-27 record in 2023. Thompson has guided the Blue & Gray to back-to-back 30-win seasons for the first time in program history and also had the highest draft pick in program history after 2023 as Jake Bloss was taken 99th overall by the Houston Astros.
