Hoyas Host Friars on Saturday Evening at McDonough Arena

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's basketball team returns home to face the Providence College Friars on Saturday evening in a BIG EAST Conference matchup at McDonough Arena at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports presented by Invesco QQQ.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown is sitting at 15-8 overall and 5-7 in BIG EAST Conference play.
  • GU is coming off of a 52-38 loss to Marquette on Wednesday in Milwaukee.
  • Graduate student Graceann Bennett led the way for the Hoyas with seven points as well as a squad-high eight rebounds.
  • Classmate Mya Bembry added two points, but had five steals in the game and junior Brianna Scott managed six points along with seven boards.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 25.0% (14-56) from the field, and Georgetown allowed 34.0% (16-47) shooting by the Golden Eagles.

  • Senior Kelsey Ransom leads the team in almost all categories. She is 14th in the league in scoring (13.7 ppg), 18th in rebounding (5.3 rpg), sixth in assists (4.1 apg) and is sixth in the league with 2.1 steals per game.
  • Bennett is second on the team with 10.2 ppg (23rd in the league) as well as a team-best 7.4 rpg which ranks seventh in the BIG EAST.
  • Scott rounds out the top three with 9.1 ppg (27th in the league), 6.3 rpg (12th in the BIG EAST) and 1.6 blocks per game, fourth in the conference.
  • The Hoyas are leading the league and ranked 12th in the nation in scoring defense averaging 54.3 ppg.
About the Friars
  • Providence is 11-13 overall and 5-6 in the league after a road loss to DePaul 84-72 on Wednesday.
  • Four Friars scored in double figures, with Brynn Farrell leading with 18 points. She was 10-10 from the free throw line for the game.
  • Olivia Olsen and Emily Archibald each contributed 11 points, with Martes Morales Romero tacking on another 10.
  • Olsen leads the Friars averaging 14.6 ppg. She is trailed by Grace Efosa with 12.8 ppg and Farrell with 11 ppg.
  • Olsen also leads the squad on the boards with 9.0 rpg, ranking second in the BIG EAST.
Series Info
  • The Hoyas are 42-32 all-time against the Friars dating back to the 1981-82 season, and GU is 21-11 at home.
  • The last contest was a Georgetown victory earlier in the season in Providence, with the Hoyas taking the win 73-71 on a last second shot from Ransom.
