WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will host the University of Maryland on Tuesday, March 26 for a midweek contest. The Hoyas and Terps will meet for the second time this season and for the first time at Capital One Park. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
- Georgetown (16-7) went 3-1 last week sweeping its weekend series against the Ohio State Buckeyes. GU secured 5-1, 8-5 and 4-2 victories over the Buckeyes as the Hoyas swept a power five team on the road for the first time in the past 20 years.
- Christian Ficca had a stellar week for the Hoyas once again as the senior slashed .375/.474/.625 in four games. Ficca tallied six hits, three runs scored, a double, a home run, five RBIs and three walks. The senior currently has 37 RBIs on the year, a mark good for seventh in the country.
- Blake Schaaf was vital in the Hoyas sweep over Ohio State as the freshman slashed .429/.429/.714 in seven plate appearances. Schaaf recorded three hits, two runs scored, two doubles and five RBIs including the go-ahead RBI in the top of the tenth inning on Sunday.
- The Georgetown pitching staff was excellent all weekend posting a 1.93 ERA in 28 innings of action. The staff combined for three wins, three saves and 25 strikeouts while allowing only 17 hits and eight total runs across the three games. GU is now tied for the national lead in team saves with 12 on the season.
- Nick Davis and Kai Leckszas are both top 25 in the nation in saves as Davis is tied for seventh with five and Leckszas is tied for 21st with four. Davis and Leckszas rank first and second in the conference in saves as the next closest player has three to their credit.
- Everett Catlett had another dominant outing on the mound on Sunday going six full innings in a no decision contest. Catlett held the Buckeyes offense to four hits and one earned run while fanning seven batters along the way. Catlett also leads the conference in strikeouts with 37.
- The Hoyas lead the BIG EAST in base on balls (134) a mark that is good for 40th nationally. GU leads the conference in double plays with 27, which ranks fifth in the country. The Hoyas are 15th in the nation in doubles (58) which also leads the conference. Georgetown is second in the conference in hits (239), second in on base percentage (.423) and first in runs (201).
- Jake Hyde is 30th in the nation in doubles with 10 and is seven hits away from 200 career knocks. Michael Eze leads the BIG EAST in stolen bases with 12. Owen Carapellotti leads the BIG EAST in triples with three on the season.
ABOUT MARYLAND
- Maryland (18-6) enters Tuesday's contest after taking their weekend series over Michigan State 2-1. The Terps won games one and three by scores of 7-6 and 5-4, both in 10 inning contests.
- Eddie Hacopian paces the UMD offense slashing .352/.462/.462 on the season. Hacopian has recorded 32 hits, 22 runs scored, seven doubles, one home run and 20 RBIs.
- On the mound, Logan Koester leads the Terps with a 2.72 ERA and a 4-1 record. Koester has seen 36.1 innings of action on the mound and has allowed 29 hits and 11 earned runs while striking out 19.

The Hoyas will be back in action this weekend as Georgetown hosts Villanova in its first BIG EAST series of the season. In 2023, GU took the series over Villanova 2-1 in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. Game one of the series is scheduled for Thursday, March 28 with first pitch slated for 4 p.m. at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va.
